Composing Music for Film II Beginner Level TUTORiAL
P2P | 28 February 2023 | 377 MB
Getting started on a film score can be terrifying, but it doesnÆt have to be! In this class, weÆre going to break a score down into its fundamental parts and build up a sound that fits the film like a glove.
The film already has a score, but the scene weÆre using doesnÆt. Our focus today is creating a sound that is unique to the film and appropriate for its genre, tone, and the emotion conveyed by the on-screen characters. WeÆll be doing this by building the score by first layering a chord progression, then adding a melody, refining it, then adding bass that pulls it all together.
What weÆll have in the end is a situational motif that brings out the emotion of the scene. So if youÆre interested in scoring a film, please join us.
Before you get started, make sure youÆre set up with a DAW youÆre comfortable with, IÆll be using Ableton Live 11. IÆll also use æSpitfire OriginalsÆ a series of inexpensive music plugins by Spitfire Audio. IÆll also be using Valhalla Supermassive & Ozone 9 by iZotope.
