Electronica With NI Massive – Learn about programming synths, sound design, drum design and beat creation!

Having the opportunity to see someone else’s workflow in song creation can be priceless!

In this 4 part mini series, we learn how to design sounds, make drums and sequence with NI Massive for the electronica genre (think Warp Records).

This series looks at using Massive to make many different sound types – it’s a very versatile synth!

These videos explore some ideas and methods that are easy to implement with this powerhouse synth and hopefully sheds a little light on some things you can do differently to help improve your instruments and your sound design sessions within Massive.

Keys, Production, Drums and Synth Sequencing

Videos 1 and 2 of this mini series on designing Electonica in NI Massive focus on how to create a vibrant Electronica Key sound – A three Oscillator sound thats envelope has been shaped to near perfection. We also look at how to create a drum and synth sequence using Massive. This sound is deep! You’ll learn:

How to use modulation when designing a sound
Using tools such as external filters and compressors to bring your sound to life
Which wavetables to use when designing these kinds of sounds
Use Massive to make snares, hats and kicks
Programming chords in one instance of Massive (no keybaord needed!)

Arp’s, Drums and and beat sequences

In videos 3 and 4 we’re looking at using the drum sounds you made earlier and creating a beat! You’ll also be adding an arp and a bass sequence.You’ll learn:

Which modulators to use to create your own beats
Using Massive’s effects to bring your beat to life
Using multiple modulators in one instance of Massive for complex patterns
How to add a bassline pattern to your beat
Which effects to use to glue everything together!
