19 January 2024 | 553 MB
If you like using samples to create your productions but are getting frustrated searching for just the right one, why not learn how to make your own? In this sound design video course, production guru Larry Holcombe teaches you how to do just that using nothing but Logic Pro. From old school sounding vocals, drums, and bass to all the ear candy like strings, horns, percussion, and more, it’s all here! By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to create your own custom samples that sound like you searched through crates of records. These sound design videos are great for anyone interested in making old school sounding samples, but they will be best for users of Logic Pro, since all the tools used and shown are found in Logic Pro.
Larry begins with a quick playthrough of the finished track, showcasing all the samples that are created throughout the video course. Then, he gets down to business, getting started with a vocal idea from Apple Loops to use as the basis for the sample, with the remainder to be built around it.
Next, it’s on to the drums, and Larry shows you how to create a Motown-style beat with the drummer track to serve as the rhythmic foundation. This is followed by a chordal part using an electric piano to provide the harmonic element, which is created by using the chord trigger and a MIDI keyboard.
There’s a lot more to come, including lead piano (for a topline melody), bass (using a Logic preset), organ (including Leslie speed manipulation via the sustain pedal), guitars, horns, percussion (chimes and glockenspiel), strings, and a vintage master chain to emulate the retro vibe and add authenticity.
Logic Pro has all you need to build your own old school samples, and this Logic Pro sound design course is all you need to learn how to do it quickly and easily. Before you know it, you’ll have a whole library of custom-made samples perfectly suited for your own productions!
