We’re very excited to bring you this unique series – an exclusive look inside the innovative new mixing studio of Michael Brauer! For over a decade, Brauer mixed records on an SSL 9000 J console at Electric Lady Studios. His renowned multi-buss processing workflow (‘Brauerizing’) was developed around the routing possibilities of the large-format analog desk. He recently decided to harness the power of digital efficiency by exchanging his console for an Avid S6 control surface, inserting SSL channel emulations on all Pro Tools audio tracks, and routing his multiple busses through different handpicked summing mixers for each group of instruments. His setup is now more ergonomic, efficient and versatile than ever before, while yielding even better sonic results! Michael Brauer takes you step-by-step through his carefully curated signal routing, enviable selection of outboard gear, and fascinating new workflow.
