Softube’s Model 72 is one of the most breathtakingly accurate emulations of a Minimoog you’re likely to come across, and it’s got the sounds to prove it. In this Model 72 course, synth expert Thomas Cochran will walk you through all the components and parameters of this iconic instrument and show you how to achieve the sounds you want, whether it’s basses, leads, sound effects, or whatever else you can dream up. By the end of this Softube course, you’ll be designing your own patches with confidence and purpose for your very next production. These Model 72 videos are designed for new users.
Eli starts with an overview of the plug-in, explaining what it can do and providing a few examples so you can get a good idea of its functionality right off the bat. Then he starts to get into the details, beginning with input and output snapping, which is the method used to create variations in timing, pitch, etc. for drum loops, beats, and anything else you’d like to treat with it. You’ll also see how pitch snapping can be used to move chords up or down by semitones and add gliding effects via the curve parameter.
Next, you’ll learn how to use the Repeat function to generate stuttering, glitchy effects, along with the DeClick parameter to control the sharpness of the transients for the repeats. Explore the Volume function after that and see how the slope and curve parameters can be used to create unique envelopes on one or more slices. Other topics include vocal chops (creating vocal slices with a bit of randomization), beat pumping (generating side-chain effects), creative pad envelope shaping (adding dynamic elements to static pads), drum fills (using automation to trigger various fills throughout the arrangement), mix bus uses (fun ideas for using over the entire mix), and more.
Beat Breaker is a fantastic way to quickly inject life into a beat that needs that little something extra, or you can get creative using it on other sources to put a unique sonic stamp on an instrument, a bus, or an entire mix. This Logic Pro course is the best way to quickly master the Beat Breaker plug-in and learn how to get the most out of it on your own productions. See the individual Logic Pro Beat Breaker video tutorial descriptions for more details on everything it can do and ideas on how you can apply it to your own tracks. Break those beats down and turn them into something entirely new… Watch “Logic Pro Beat Breaker” today!
